Prof Burak KAYA, MD, PhD
Prof. Dr. Burak Kaya was born in Ankara in 1977. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education at TED Ankara College. He graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 2000. He completed his specialty training at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, and earned the title of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist in 2008.
He fulfilled his compulsory service between 2008 and 2011 at Ankara Training and Research Hospital, 2nd Plastic Surgery Clinic. Between 2009 and 2010, he completed his military service as a Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Specialist at Van Military Hospital.
In 2011, Prof. Dr. Burak Kaya started working as a specialist physician at Ankara University Department of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and was appointed assistant professor in 2013. In 2014, he observed at Asan Medical Center, Plastic Surgery Clinic in Seoul, South Korea.
He received the title of associate professor in 2016. The same year, he completed his PhD program in Clinical Anatomy at Ankara University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Anatomy, earning the title of Doctor of Science. In 2017, he completed a Microsurgery Fellowship program under Professor Hung-Chi Chen at China Medical University Hospital Plastic Surgery Clinic in Taichung, Taiwan.
In 2023, he was appointed as a professor in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery and began serving as the Head of the Department at Ankara University in the same year. In addition to his role as Department Head, he undertook various administrative duties including Deputy Representative for Assistant Professors, Associate Professor Representative on the Faculty of Medicine Board, Membership on the Executive Board of the Clinical Anatomy Research and Simulation Center, Membership on the Postgraduate Education and Coordination Committee, Coordinator of Accreditation for Specialty Training in Surgical Medical Sciences, and Deputy Director of the Medical Design Application and Research Center at Ankara University. He resigned from his position at Ankara University in 2025 and has since continued his professional work in his private office. He is a member of the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery and served on its board of directors from 2018 to 2021. He is also a member and current board member of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Society. Additionally, he is an active member of the Reconstructive Microsurgery Society and the Emergency Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Society. He holds the Turkish Board Certification in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery as well as the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOBRAS) certification.
