Scar Treatment (Scar Revision)
Scars can bear both physical and emotional scars from trauma. Scar revision is a procedure performed to reduce the visibility of these scars and restore a more aesthetic appearance. Surgical or non-surgical methods may be chosen depending on factors such as the size, shape, raisedness, or color of the scars. Irregular and raised scars are usually surgically removed, and the scar is resurfaced with a thinner line. For more superficial or lighter scars, methods such as PRP, mesotherapy, fractional laser, dermapen, and chemical peels may be utilized.
It typically takes six months to one year for scars to mature and become suitable for scar revision. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, and the patient feels no pain during the procedure. While recovery time after surgery may be slightly longer, returning to social life is faster with procedures like laser. Following sun protection, using recommended sunscreens regularly, and following regular checkups with your doctor will increase treatment success. While scar revision may not completely erase the scars, it does achieve a more acceptable appearance. A detailed consultation with your doctor is recommended to determine the appropriate scar treatment method during your consultation.
